Protection of Students’ Right to Admission

  • Successfully filed a Writ Petition against denial of admission to a sibling child, securing admission through court intervention.
  • Filed a Writ Petition against denial of admission to meritorious students, resulting in ₹4.60 crores compensation to 23 medical students.
  • Filed PILs against unauthorised and illegal admissions in junior colleges, engineering colleges, and management institutes.

Crackdown on Capitation Fees & Illegal Fee Collection

  • Filed a Writ Petition against a junior college for collecting capitation fees, resulting in a refund of approximately ₹8 crores with interest.
  • Intervened in multiple cases leading to refunds of nearly ₹20 crores by various schools.
  • Filed FIRs against schools collecting capitation fees, leading to the arrest of management members and trustees.
  • PILs filed against international schools charging exorbitant fees under the guise of international education (matter pending).

Fee Regulation & Policy Reforms

  • Conducted an 8-day hunger strike at Azad Maidan, which directly led to the formulation of the Maharashtra Fee Regulation Act, 2011.
  • Filed PILs against 31 schools for charging excessive fees.
  • Served as a Bansal Committee Member, appointed by the Government, to fix norms for private school fee determination.

Landmark PILs in Education Governance

  • PIL filed against appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, resulting in cancellation of the appointment.
  • PIL exposed the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scam of ₹75 crores, leading to court-ordered inquiry and cases against those involved.
  • Filed PILs to abolish management quota within government quota.
  • PILs filed to regulate coaching classes in Maharashtra (government directed to regulate; pending implementation).

Safeguarding Children’s Rights & Welfare

  • Cases filed before the Child Rights Commission resulted in favourable orders against harassment and unlawful expulsion of students.
  • Filed PIL against conducting interviews for pre-primary admissions (pending).
  • Filed PIL for mandatory minimum 75% attendance, which was allowed by the court.
  • Filed PIL limiting overcrowding in classrooms, reducing class size from 170+ students to a maximum of 80.

Institutional Accountability & Malpractice Exposure

  • Filed PILs against unauthorised schools (140 institutions) operating illegally.
  • Filed nationwide PILs against Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IME) for issuing bogus degree certificates to thousands of students.
    Result: IME was prohibited by the HRD Ministry.
  • PILs against medical and engineering colleges for misuse of NRI quota and corruption.
  • PIL against catering colleges for malpractices (disposed of).

Scholarships & Financial Relief for Students

  • Secured scholarships for 119 students (KG to Class 10) from a reputed Santacruz school.
  • Secured scholarships for 35 students from a reputed Bandra school.
  • Filed WP for non-refund of admission fees, resulting in refund with 9% interest.

Teachers’ Rights & Educational Standards

  • Led a hunger strike for implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, resulting in teachers receiving pending salaries.
  • PIL filed against unqualified teacher appointments by the Government.
  • PIL against teachers taking private tuitions, leading to expulsion of over 500 teachers.
  • PIL to improve infrastructure and facilities in government schools.

Transport, Safety & Infrastructure

  • Filed PIL in the school bus strike matter, resulting in a statewide prohibition of bus strikes in Maharashtra.
  • Filed PIL against forced purchase of school essentials such as uniforms, books, and stationery — won the case.
  • Filed PIL against shifting and closure of schools, successfully preventing unjustified relocations.

Admissions Transparency & Reforms

  • Intervention petition filed regarding Best Five subjects and percentile system for Class 11 admissions.
  • WP in engineering admissions advocating for single CET system.
  • PILs for centralised and online admissions across colleges.
  • PIL against colleges admitting 30 extra students illegally.

RTI Advocacy & Awareness

  • Filed numerous RTI applications to expose corruption.
